Is there a free trial for the full features?

Yes — Safe Max and Curve modes are unlocked for a 14-day trial upon first launch. No payment is required to try them.

What does the license cover?

One license covers all your personal Macs. It is not for redistribution or commercial fleet use.

Do I need to re-purchase after a macOS upgrade?

No. Your license is permanent.

Do I need to re-purchase if I get a new Mac?

No, your license belongs to you. Just use your existing license key to register the software on your new Mac.

What is your refund policy?

Because we respect your privacy, we use an offline registration system. This means that once a license is sold, we cannot revoke it, making it impossible to issue a standard refund. We strongly recommend using the 14-day free trial first to ensure compatibility and see if the app fits your needs.

There is one exception: if Apple blocks the methods we use to control your fans, you can receive a full refund provided that you purchased your license within the last 30 days. However, please note that once a new working release is available, you will not be able to re-register it using the refunded license key.

Why isn’t the app on the Mac App Store?

SafeFanControl installs a privileged background helper daemon, which is incompatible with the Mac App Store’s strict sandboxing rules. Therefore, we distribute it directly. But we scan, notarize, and sign the installation package through Apple’s signing system, so the installation package you download from us has been reviewed by Apple.

Can I use it without paying?

Yes — Monitor mode is completely free and always will be.

What happens if the licensing server goes offline in the future?

The license key works offline and does not require an internet check. You can register at any time, as long as you still have your license key.

What if you abandon this project?

To be honest, every product has a lifespan—they don’t live forever. However, as long as I am able to code and the product’s revenue covers its basic expenses (such as the yearly Apple Developer Program fee, platform commissions, etc.), I will continue maintaining it. If you like this product, please share it with your friends so I can keep developing it—even if the revenue just barely covers the software’s running costs.
If (and only if) the day ever comes when I have to abandon this project, I will share the program’s source code with all paid users under AGPL v3 license.
